Alerts

Turning on push on your phone

The only reminder that arrives with the app closed — and why it has to be enabled on each device.

An in-app alert only reaches you while DayAlly is open. Push is what reaches you when it is not — the notification appears on your phone screen like any other app's.

Turning it on

  1. On the device where you want to receive them, open Settings → Alerts.
  2. Under Push notifications, click Enable push.
  3. Accept the permission the browser asks for.

On iPhone, install first

iOS only delivers push to sites added to the home screen. On iPhone the route is: add DayAlly to your home screen, open it from the icon, and then enable push.

When it says "Permission blocked"

It means the browser has already been told to block notifications for this site — usually from a "Block" clicked by accident. DayAlly cannot reverse that: you have to allow it in the browser's own settings, under the site's notification entry.

What arrives by push

The alerts you configured for events, timed tasks, and timed habits, plus the notices about your trial ending — those in particular, precisely because they reach people who stopped opening the app.

Where it lives

Settings → Alerts, under Notification channels. The in-app alert and the sound live there too.

Common questions

I enabled it and nothing arrives. Check, in this order: you enabled it on that device; on iPhone, you installed it to the home screen; the item has a time (without one there is nothing to alert); and the default alert for that type is not empty.

They arrive late. The operating system can hold notifications back in battery-saver mode. That is device behaviour, not the app.

How do I turn it off? Same place, Disable button.
