Push that never arrives: what to check in each browser
When push is on and nothing shows up anyway — Brave, Firefox, iPhone and battery saving.
Turning on push has two sides: DayAlly asks the browser to subscribe, and the browser arranges with a system push service to receive the messages. When that second part is blocked, the subscription may even succeed — and nothing ever arrives.
Start with the test
In Settings → Alerts, under Test alerts, click Send test alert. DayAlly sends a push and waits up to fifteen seconds for confirmation that it reached this browser.
- "Push received on this device" — everything is fine here. If a real alert didn't arrive, check the item: does it have a time? Is the default alert for that type configured?
- "The push was sent, but didn't reach this device" — the server handed it to the push service, and the browser didn't show it. The cause is in the browser or the system, and the list below covers the known ones.
Brave
Brave ships with "Use Google services for push messaging" turned off. Without it, the browser can't receive push from any site, and enabling either fails or stays silent.
- Open
brave://settings/privacyand turn on Use Google services for push messaging. - Back in DayAlly, under Settings → Alerts, click Disable and then Enable push, to redo the subscription.
- Run the test again.
Firefox
With Enhanced Tracking Protection set to Strict, Firefox may refuse the subscription. Add DayAlly as an exception in the shield next to the URL, or use the Standard mode.
iPhone and iPad
iOS only delivers push to sites installed on the Home Screen. Install DayAlly from Safari's share menu, open it from the icon, and enable push from there. Enabling from regular Safari doesn't work.
Android and computers with battery saving
The system may hold back notifications from apps and browsers in the background. In the device's battery settings, exclude the browser (or the installed DayAlly) from optimization.
FAQ
The in-app test showed up, the push didn't. They're different channels. The in-app alert only needs DayAlly open; push depends on the browser. Follow the list above.
It used to work and stopped. A browser update or clearing site data removes the subscription. Disable and enable push again.
It arrives, but late. Battery saving on the device. Not the app.
